4/11th4/17th: Slow Week for good reasons

The completion of ‘Grace’ is still ongoing; for the longest time I couldn’t bear to look at her face, something was creeping me out too much about it, and the more I tried to fix it, the faker it became. I finally concluded that her expression was off, so I removed the dimples originally given, and adjusted her nose shape so it looks less button/piggish. Her skin tone- though directly taken from the doll’s color palette- has been bothering me for awhile too, so I did an orange overlay at 15% that I think I’m going to keep for now. A few more details completed, but the biggest push is going to have to be finishing the hands, jacket, and curls.

Aside from the Doll Project, I’ll have a few commission sketches to hopefully show next week’s update. One of my favorite webtoons, ‘First Night with the Duke’, is wrapping up, and so I took time this week to fill out an expression practice page in homage.

If you like shoujo, 90’s/earlly 00s manga expressions, and a ridiculous amount of wholesome fluff- this is worth a visit. You can access the webtoon here:

I might try some life sketches of birds next week too, as we are preparing to get our own set of chickens. Till next update!
