4/17th-4/24th: Grace portrait finished, and new art book obtained

There are times as an artist that you just have to look at your work and say ‘good enough’. There are several aspects of ‘Grace’ that I think weaken the composition, but I have to remember that this is an exercise, a multi-image project that’s bound to have a few I don’t love as much. Overall, I think I captured the essence of what I was looking for.

The reason I had to give up on her was because there were several aspects to her lighting and color scheme that I have been hemming and hawing over. I had also been having trouble with her skirt, so ended up caving and using additional layers to put it together, then creating a vague, blurred background of the snow scape. The end result feels a little too busy, and off due to the coloring, but again, c’est la vie.

Additionally, I got a notice from my local Source Comics and Games store that a book I had pre-ordered had come in, and I spent my Saturday night relaxing and being quietly inspired by “The Art of Luca”.

This next week will probably be a lot of sketch work, which I am very much looking forward to. Till next time :)
